Recently our winter cheerleaders took first place in the small school Co-Ed Division South Sectionals at the MSSAA Winter Cheerleading Competition.  This honor qualifies our squad to compete in the state tournament this Sunday, March 10th, at Tantasqua Regional High School in Fiskdale, MA.  Hoping to place 1st or 2nd in the small co-ed division or in the top 5 overall will give them a nod in the New England Spirit Competition later in the month.  Good luck NHS Cheerleaders!!!

Rep. John Rogers invited the team after we returned from Florida.  The team took a bus into Boston and was greeted by John's assistant, a NHS graduate.  We took a tour of the State House and took in all its incredible history.  We were then led into the House of Representatives.  The representatives were in recess but the few people there asked for a cheer.  Naturally the squad put up three stunts right in the center of the room.

Rep. Rogers introduced us as the Mass State Champs.  He spoke of how proud he was and mentioned our recent trip to Nationals in Disney World.  At the conclusion of his speech the entire house floor gave us a standing ovation.  It was an honor to be there and the squad really enjoyed the visit.

Before boarding the plane to Nationals the NHS cheerleaders posed with Boston's Mayor Menino and Wally the Green Monster, from the Red Sox.

The team practied before our first competition and woke up very early the next morning to perform at Nationals at ESPN Studios.  They placed 25th in the country and placed 9th at World's the next day.

But the squad is not stopping there.  They are on another quest to defend their state title and obtain another bid to Nationals in early March, 2012.
